Fall Prevention

Physical inactivity is a leading risk factor for falls. [1]

Falls are a massive and growing healthcare concern in Canada.

Here is what you need to know:
  1. Falls are the leading cause of injury related deaths, hospitalizations, partial and permanent disability. [2]
  2. Falls are the leading cause of overall injury costs at $8.7B or 34% annually. [3]
  3. Falls are the leading cause of injury for older adults in Canada. [4]
  4. Falls are a leading cause of Emergency Department visits for young children. [5]

Take action!
November is international  Fall Prevention Month , but connecting the work of physical literacy, physical activity and this increasing health burden is not limited to one month a year.
